Shaun Wane was delighted with the way Super League leaders Wigan Warriors responded to last weekend's defeat against second-placed Warrington Wolves by thrashing Hull 46-0 at the KC Stadium.
Pat Richards scored a hat-trick of tries for the Cherry and Whites and finished the match with 26 points, while Sam Tomkins also grabbed two touchdowns.
Warriors coach Michael Maguire has had to fly to Australia to be with his ill father, but his stand-in, Wane, said after the rout: "When the final whistle went, someone handed me a phone and Michael was on the end of it.
"He just said 'I've just been watching you on the internet, I'm looking at you talking to me and I'm really pleased with the nil, so tell the lads all the best'.
"I'm really pleased with the win. This week has been a tough week. Last week was a hard result to take but the lads responded.
"We've got some really strong characters in the team and it's been a real flogging for some of the players."
