More injury woe for Wildcats

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats have been hit with three new injury problems ahead of their weekend Super League clash with St Helens at Belle Vue.

Luke George is set to go under the surgeon's knife to cure a shoulder problem and will not make a return until pre-season at the end of the year.

Dale Morton is also set for a lengthy absence after injuring his knee in the recent victory over Hull FC and youngster Danny Cowling is also nursing a knee problem.

With Dale Ferguson still a fortnight away from a return following a hernia operation, head coach John Kear also has big doubts over Matt Blaymire, James Davey, Ben Jeffries, Paul Johnson, Richard Moore and Aaron Murphy.

Wakefield currently sit outside the top-eight as they trail fierce rivals Castleford Tigers by two points and a defeat would see their play-off dream get that bit tougher, but Kear is just getting on with things.

Speaking to reporters, Kear said: "We're busted at the moment. There's no particular reason but it's just the time of the season with bumps, bruises and injury problems piling up.

"Those players who are doubtful will continue under treatment and we'll know more when we come to name our 19-man squad on Friday afternoon."
