Rugby Leading Wingers

Wingers are the glory boys of a rugby league team the guys who the crowd pay to see speed past their opposite number and also put in late try-saving tackles.

Others may do more hard graft for 80 minutes, but nobody gets their name in lights as much as those with numbers two and five on their backs.

Manu Vatuvei, the Kiwi Warriors' express-man, has rocketed into the world's eye as one of the best in the business thanks to a series of commanding performances in New Zealand's successful World Cup squad last November, as well as stepping up when required for the Warriors.

Israel Folau, the former Melbourne Storm winger who now plies his trade with Brisbane Broncos, could also go down as one of the game's greats fitness permitting.

Not only is Folau still just 19, but the Broncos believe they can squeeze even more pace out of him putting him on a strict conditioning programme to make the most out of his natural talent.

England's Lee Smith, who plays on the wing for Leeds Rhinos is the best of the rest. Although his career has been affected by injury, he scored an impressive hat-trick for his country against Papua New Guinea in their World Cup opener last year, as well as frequently producing match-winning performances for the Rhinos, including a try in the 2007 Super League Grand Final.
